It would be safe to say that nobody expected a Baldur’s Gate sequel so soon but Larian (the developers behind Divinity: Original Sin) showcased the gameplay reveal live at PAX East 2020. This is the first mainline entry in the series since 2004 and will be available to play later this year!

What’s the Release Date?

Baldur’s Gate 3 does not yet have a release date. It was revealed during PAX East 2020 that the game would enter early access within the next few months so it most likely won’t be long before we get a release date. It is highly probable that it will launch sometime in late 2020.

What’s available in Early Access?

As the name suggests, Early Access will get limited content of the game available to the public. In which, you will be able to go through some of the single-player content which will include creating your own character. You can choose from different classes such as Wizard, Cleric, Fighter, Ranger, Rogue and the Warlock. However, more classes will be added as the game gets closer to release. There are no concrete details as to how many classes will be available during early access but you can expect most of the few mentioned above.

The Early Access demo will only contain a selected few chapters of the game, the first build will have the initial arc: Act-1A. The developers promised that the game would be more expansive than Divinity: Original Sin 2’s early access demo (which had 8-12 hours of gameplay in it). All in all, there is a good chunk of content in the early access demo so you can get a taste of how the full game is going to be when it launches sometime later in 2020.

The final game will also include multiplayer (it is unclear whether the early access build will have it or not) that includes a coop mode. Players can join other players' parties when online and can play with up to three other people.
