Everything We Know About Star Wars: Squadrons
By Rafay Faheem 19 Jun, 20
Star Wars: Squadrons is a brand new Space Flying-Sim experience from EA that is coming to every platform imaginable this October! Here’s everything we know so far about the game:
EA has confirmed that Squadrons will have cross-play across PS4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam and Origin). This means that you can play with your friends regardless of the console that they are on. We have yet to confirm whether cross-platform progression will be a thing or not.
Game Modes and Single-Player Campaign
EA showcased two game modes that are going to be available to play in Squadron during their EA Play Live showcase. There will be Dogfight, a 5v5 deathmatch where the objective is going to be to destroy the enemy ships primarily. The second gamemode was Fleet Battle, where ace fighter pilots will really shine! The gamemode consists of multiple stages of warfare where you can either play against an enemy team or the AI.
Regarding the Single Player campaign, EA revealed that players will start the game by creating two customizable pilots for themselves, one for the Rebel Alliance and the other for the Galactice Empire. Players will alternate between these two pilots as they play missions from both perspectives.
Customization and Microtransactions
EA promises that there are going to be a unique player and ship customizations that can be unlocked purely just by playing the game. You can change your ship loadouts to better suit your playstyle and what type of role you’ll be playing in the game. Regarding microtransactions, EA has not revealed anything of the sort. We shall see at launch whether EA learned from its past mistakes (Ehm Battlefront 2 Ehm) or not. Microtransaction pricing and implementation can be a hit or miss for most games so we will have to wait and see until the game comes out.
Pricing and Launch Date
The game is set to come out on the 2nd of October and is priced at 40$ on all platforms. You can pre-order the game right now on PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam and Origin!
