New Witcher Game to Come Out after Cyberpunk 2077?

At a recent conference in Poland, before the coronavirus halted almost all large gatherings globally, Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński revealed some interesting things. In particular, he stated that his company is “working on a next single-player game already”, while doing so, he pointed at a game set in The WItcher world. However, it is also important to mention that the CEO explicitly clarified that the new game would not be a sequel or a prequel to any Witcher game in the series.

“I already said there would be no Witcher 4,” said Kiciński. “I clearly said that it was a trilogy. Simultaneously, we’ve always emphasised that we want to create Witcher games, and the agreement with Mr. Sapkowski confirmed our rights.” It is pertinent to note that the agreement that is being referred to here is the one Kicinski signed with Adrzej Sapkowski, the writer for the original Witcher books.

Mr Kicinski also denoted an important detail when he said that the single player game was ‘awaiting development’ after the release of Cyberpunk 2077. One cannot help but wonder how the gaming world is so sure that the single player game being referred to is indeed a Witcher game. He made our doubts almost crystal clear when he stated that “all planned games are either Witcher or Cyberpunk“. It would be highly unlikely for the company to develop two Cyberpunk games in a row.

Interestingly, gamers around the world have logically made sense of the fact that it is very unlikely that the new game will star ‘Geralt of Rivia’ as the protagonist because it was made evident that the game will not be part of the trilogy. This game will be distinct in the sense that it will almost certainly boast a different protagonist and storyline altogether.

One more reminder for gamers remains that Cyberpunk will release on 17th September 2020, after which the development of the new Witcher will begin! This means that the game itself will be playable after a pretty long wait…

The WItcher 3 has a 10/10 rating on Steam and is widely considered to be one of the best games to come out this decade on any platform. It has many coveted awards like the Game Award for Game of the Year 2015 to support the hype around it. It is no surprise that players are anxious for a new Witcher game!
