PES takes edge over FIFA with its 2021 version being a Season Update

Rumours about a season update of Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 2020 that were floating around for the past weeks were finally confirmed. Konami had given a statement regarding PES 2021 and here is what we found out:

Twenty-twenty marks a quarter of a century since the release of the very first PES title so to celebrate this silver jubilee event, PES fans are in for a real treat. Konami has just announced that “this year’s PES will launch at an affordable anniversary price and will also come with several bonuses”. The season update will be released on Tuesday, 15th September 2020 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The bad news is that the season update is all that is being launched this year. They found it “necessary to pare back efforts in other areas of development” and have decided to fully focus on the next-gen debut PES 2022 for PS5 and Xbox Series X, which is being developed with the help of Epic Games’ Unreal Engine. Gamers have been promised “staggering improvements to all areas of the game” and are apprised to “expect more realistic player models and animations, enhanced physics, photorealistic visuals, and much, much more. They have also promised “large updates” for myClub and Master League as well.

Konami is excited to announce that PES 2022 will change the game majorly and will truly personify the “core concept of ‘The Pitch is Ours’ title”. They are aiming to begin testing of next-gen title sometime in mid-2021 and the estimated release date is to be announced later in the same year.

Even though PES 2021 is just a season update and not a full-scale launch, Konami says that they’re extremely confident that it will still offer fans “more than enough thrills to tide them over” until next-gen title is ready for launch. It is also to be noted that PES 2021 is not a downloadable content (DLC), rather it will be a stand-alone game.

Following the news, gamers have divided themselves into two groups. Half of them are thrilled to hear about this super affordable update and anticipating its release. They are speculating about the new features it's going to have and how different this new update would be as compared to the old one. People are going crazy over this announcement and it looks like Konami has once again gained the attention of the gamers worldwide. On the other hand, the second half is not sure how they are feeling about this season update. They were expecting a full-scale launch and were given just an update so they’re not entirely sure what to expect now. Many of them think that PES 2020 was already advanced and up to the mark so they don’t really see what new exciting features could be added to make it worthwhile.

Anyway, Konami is hopeful regarding their season update and are expecting to see us “on the pitch in this year's season update”.

With the FIFA 21 turning out NOT so appealing so far.. is this the year for PES?
