Recently in the CES 2020, Sony announced the PS5 logo but many fans didn’t expect this again.

PS5 logo

Well, because the logo looks exactly like the PS3 and PS4 logo. Yeah, they did not put in many efforts into making a new logo as they just went on with their previously made one which, however, does hold a good reputation in the market. The logo has the same font and color combination, black and white and only the digit is a major difference.

Sony’s Jim Ryan took onto the stage in order to discuss about Sony’s PS5 and majority of the fans were very excited to receive news regarding the next PlayStation however their hopes were turned down when the only order of business discussed by Mr. Ryan was the logo for the PS5 which wasn’t very new or different at all. Well, like the Xbox series X, many fans were expecting a solid competitive display of news since Xbox series X has revealed its entire console (yes that tower/ PC imitating system), and so fans really expected more than an old rebranded logo from Sony.

PS4 statistics

However, Ryan went on record establishing Sony’s dominance in the gaming industry as he mentions that Sony has so far sold about 106 million units of PS4, followed by 1.15 billion games copy and about 5 million PSVR headsets. Now, these numbers are not only impressive but preposterous because that’s some hefty business by Sony over the few years just from PS4’s. The PS4 is now the second best selling gaming console just behind PS2.

Furthermore, Jim raised beacon of light for his fans on CES 2020 as he suggested that there would be more information on the PS5 as he said ‘’ There’s much more to share on PlayStation 5 in the months ahead’’, now all of us are fixating on the words of much and months, which suggests that soon there would be a lot to talk about the PS5 in a short span of time since the PS5 has a holiday 2020 release. A lot about the PS5 is still unknown like what games will be coming to it, what will be the design, the dev kit and the controllers, how different would they be with haptics touch , adaptive triggers and many more features. Most of this information, as expected, would arrive in the first half of the year since the second half would all be about the PS5 release and pre-order.

For now, the logo is the only new piece of information served to the customers and this is what we have made out of it.
