When will GTA 6 come out?

It has been almost 7 years since Grand Theft Auto 5 was launched into the market, and it has easily been the most successful GTA game released to date. Its influence has spanned over 5 major platforms (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC) and consequently, GTA 5 takes the official crown of the bestselling game of the decade.

GTA 5 certainly had a versatile story mode that allowed users to play as three distinct characters, however, the game’s long-lasting and unprecedented success exists largely because of how Rockstar perfected GTA Online. This open-world, never-ending online multiplayer with addictive heists and deathmatches is what has kept players hooked to GTA long after ending story mode.

Nevertheless, 7 years later, gamers have started to question Rockstar on details of the next awaited game in the GTA franchise. The game has not yet been announced and there is much speculation around the release date. Initially, rumors suggested that the game may be announced or even released as early as Holiday 2020, in line with the hype around PS5 and the new Xbox. However, the latest reports show that GTA 6 will be launched in 2021, or at the least, announced during that year.

According to Daily Star’s press release, Industry expert and former Rockstar employee Darion Lowenstein told Daily Star, “that the Houser brothers place all their emphasis on game quality rather than hitting a deadline” and “his absolute best-case-scenario for a game release is Holiday 2021, though he does not expect an announcement/trailer anytime soon.”

Furthermore, a report by Tax Watch UK shows massive tax breaks for the firm, and analysts suggest that this is because of increased spending on the development of a new title, which is most likely to be GTA 6. Does this mean GTA 6 will be here sooner than we expect?

New confirmed statistics also reveal why Rockstar does not need to rush a new GTA title. GTA was the most downloaded game of December 2019 on PlayStation, which is a highly impressive statistic considering that a 2013 title beat fresh titles like Call of Duty MW and FIFA 20. It seems that gamers have still not gotten enough of GTA Online!

This development that GTA 6 is not being rushed in, and there is a long wait, has worried some gamers. This is so because the later the game is released, the less likely it is that it will release on the current-gen platform of PS4 and Xbox One as well. Consumers who do not wish to upgrade will be desperately praying for an early release. Will Rockstar give it to them? Time will tell.
